The Amazon Appstore Tourney Says "No Pros Need Apply"

11/23/16
Amazon is inviting mobile players to compete in the first ever casual eSports tournament, called the Champions of Fire Invitational—"no pros need apply." But, don't get ahead of yourself. This isn't a tournament for just anybody. No, no. These casuals are streamer-celebrities, and 16 of them will bang their heads together competing for their cut of a $100,000 prize pool.

What games will they be playing you may ask? Let's see. We've got Disney Crossy Road, Pac-Man 256, Bloons TD Battles, 8 Ball Pool, Fruit Ninja Tournament Edition, and more. I used to play 8 Ball pool all the time on PC. Where's my invite to the tourney?

The event is only one day, taking place in Las Vegas on December 2nd from 2 to 9pm. If you're in the area you can reserve a ticket (fo' free). You don't have to be there. You can watch on Twitch, and CBS will also air a two hour show covering the event on December 12th, at 7pm.

Amazon wants to hype people up for eSports, and is pushing their way to the forefront of the scene through CBS—while also reminding people they own Twitch. This is certainly not the last publicity tournament, and I'm okay with that.
