Nintendo’s Switch parental controls video is adorable

Parents who want to monitor or restrict their kids’ playtime on Nintendo Switch will be able to do so with a dedicated mobile app, Nintendo announced this week. The app, which will be available for Android and iOS devices, is called Nintendo Switch Parental Controls. And the video Nintendo created to introduce that app is just precious.

As illustrated in the video above, which stars Mario’s longtime nemesis Bowser and his son Bowser Jr., parents will be able to set time restrictions on how long children will be able play the Switch. They can set gentle reminders that warn players their allotted time is up, as well as set a “bedtime alarm.” Parents can even force the Switch to go into “suspend mode” after a set amount of time.

The parental controls app lets users customize how much time kids are allowed to play with the Switch on a per-day basis, allowing for more playtime on the weekends, for example. Parents can also get a monthly summary of which games their kids are spending the most time with.

Other options include the ability to restrict social media connectivity and limit software use by age and ESRB rating.
