See Ghost Recon: Wildlands' Massive Open-World Map

12/12/16
Wildlands reportedly contains one of the largest open worlds that Ubisoft has ever created. Now, we have a better idea of how big the world is.

Polygon reports that the game's map is divided into 21 regions, each of which has its own unique features like towns, waterways, and people. Additionally, there are 11 unique biomes, containing their own climates and animals.

"We have a full agenda for the NPCs, so they really live in the world," technical art director Benoit Martinez told Polygon. "They go to bed at night. They get up. They go to work. Whether or not you interact with them or not, they live their own life."

You can see images of Wildlands' map here at Polygon, while the site also has an in-depth feature on the game you can read here.
Wildlands is set in Bolivia. Set in the near future ("a few years from now" is the official word), the game seems players going behind enemy lines to take down a drug cartel. The game is playable solo or with up to three others in four-player co-op. Another major element of Wildlands is its openendedness. "Players will have a total freedom of choice to accomplish their missions how they want and watch as the world reacts to their actions," Ubisoft said.

The game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 7, 2017. A beta will be held before launch--find out more about it here.
