Square Enix has officially announced Stormblood, a new Final Fantasy XIV expansion coming Summer 2017.
The expansion was detailed by Director Naoki Yoshida at Final Fantasy XIV's 2016 Fan Festival (via GameSpot) and brings players to the location of Ala Mhigo to face an antagonist named Zenos.
The goal is to have a full "game's worth of content" in Stormblood, which also brings new primal enemies, high-end raids, dungeons, and at least as many new areas as Heavensward, the game's first expansion.
What's more, Stormblood will also increase the level cap from 60 to 70, expand inventories, introduce new job classes, and revamp the MMO's combat skill system, making certain skills shared by roles instead of jobs, according to Polygon. Yoshida also noted that skills that are either ineffective or not being used as much will be changed or removed.
The announcement of Stormblood matches a trademark Square Enix filed back in August. Earlier this year, Yoshida discussed bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox One.
